Iwan & Drago
- Species: Bengal tiger
- Born: 2009
- Origin: German circus
- Family: Iwan and Drago are brothers
Drago and Iwan arrived at Stichting Leeuw in 2012. The gentlemen came from a German circus. They have shared an enclosure since they were born.
Drago is curious and always up for something new. He loves new toys! These are extensively tested and often dipped in the pond. He always likes to play with his brother. At Stichting Leeuw he liked to hunt with the hunting simulator and he regularly got the chance to do so.
Iwan is a bit calmer than his brother. He is also the larger of the two, making him easily recognisable. He also has a somewhat longer ‘face’ than his brother. Iwan is a playful tiger who likes to seek the company of Drago. He also gets along well with neighbour Bombay. Iwan, like his brother, loves nice and warm weather.
Stichting Leeuw tried for years to relocate the brothers to a sanctuary in Thailand. Unfortunately, this never happened, for bureaucratic and political reasons. Although tigers do not naturally occur in Africa, we felt these tigers could benefit of more space, peace and quiet and a better climate.
So, in April 2023 Bombay, Drago and Iwan were relocated to The Lions Foundation in South Africa, to live the rest of their lives in a wonderful big enclosure specially constructed for tigers, with higher fences, ponds and vegetation.

April 2023 Today was the big day for IWAN and DRAGO. Because they feel so at home and know exactly where they get their food, the brothers were allowed to explore their large enclosure. They quietly walked into the large enclosure and immediately discovered their...
