Sadly, we have bad news about Ambra.

At the beginning of this month, it became clear that she was not feeling well and Ambra was extensively examined by veterinarian Peter Caldwell. Last week she deteriorated even more and further research showed that she has a very aggressive form of leukemia. We therefore decided to prevent further suffering and calmly put her sleep yesterday afternoon.

Ambra joined Stichting Leeuw in The Netherlands in February 2017, from a German circus. In the summer of 2019, she was paired with Hugo, who also lived alone. At the end of 2019, Ambra and Hugo moved to The Lions Foundation in South Africa!

We are happy that Ambra was able to enjoy her well-deserved retirement for a few more years and to feel the African savannah under her paws.

Ambra was a special and courageous lioness, we will never forget her.
